Dr Wonhee Youn, dentist at Millineer, during implant surgery

Dr Wonhee Youn, known to patients as Dr Won, is the dentist behind Millineer. He treats patients at The Dental Clinic Broomfield in Glasgow and at Freshfaced in Edinburgh, and he carries out every Millineer treatment himself, from the first consultation to the final fit.

His work covers dental implants, from single implants to full arch fixed teeth, and zirconia veneers. Every case is planned from a 3D scan. For full arch implants he designs and 3D prints the surgical guides himself, so each implant goes exactly where it was planned.

He is currently completing an Ulster University MSc, taught at the College of Medicine and Dentistry in Birmingham, where he also treats implant patients.

Questions patients ask

Who carries out the treatment?

Dr Wonhee Youn (Dr Won), GDC No. 308624. He sees you at the consultation and carries out your treatment himself.

Where are the clinics?

Glasgow: The Dental Clinic Broomfield, 584 Broomfield Road, G21 3HN (consultations Wednesday and Thursday afternoons and Fridays). Edinburgh: Freshfaced, Caledonian House, 42 Caledonian Crescent, EH11 2AG (consultations on Mondays).

How much do veneers cost?

Zirconia veneers come in packages: Millineer Pearl, 8 veneers for £3,200; Millineer Gold, 10 veneers for £3,600; Millineer Platinum, 20 veneers for £6,800 (from £340 a tooth). Every package includes the consultation, a 3D smile preview, whitening, a nightguard and a 12-month warranty. Dr Won confirms how many veneers suit your smile at the consultation.

How much do dental implants cost?

A single implant starts from £2,000. Full arch fixed teeth start from £6,790 per arch. Implant-retained clip-in dentures on two implants are £3,500. Your exact price is confirmed after your consultation and 3D (CBCT) scan.

Can I spread the cost?

Yes. Finance is available through Tabeo over up to 60 months, subject to status. You can also pay in full. Your monthly figure and the full finance details are explained at your consultation.

What happens at the consultation?

The consultation is free and takes about 30 minutes. Dr Won checks your teeth and gums, talks through what you want, and gives you a clear plan and exact price. A £20 deposit secures your time; it is refundable.

Is a 3D scan included?

In Edinburgh the 3D (CBCT) scan is done on site and included in the consultation. In Glasgow the scan is taken at a partner practice; you pay for it, and the cost comes off your treatment if you go ahead.

How does full arch implant treatment work?

First a consultation and 3D scan. Surgery takes about 2 hours per arch under local anaesthetic, and you never leave without teeth: fixed temporary teeth on the day if the bone allows, otherwise a temporary denture. Your final teeth are fitted after about 3 months of healing. If both arches are being treated, they are usually done one at a time, about a month apart.

How are implants planned?

Every case is planned from a 3D scan. For full arch treatment Dr Won uses a surgical guide, which he designs and 3D prints himself, so each implant goes into the planned position.

What if I still have some of my own teeth?

That is fine. Dr Won checks whether any of your teeth can be kept, which can mean fewer implants.

What warranty and aftercare do I get with implants?

If an implant fails in the first 12 months it is replaced free of charge. Check-ups every 3 months in the first year are included. A yearly removal and professional clean of fixed teeth is available for £250.

Will my teeth be checked before cosmetic treatment?

Yes. Dr Won checks for decay and gum disease first and treats those before any cosmetic work.
